Leading geosynthetic specialist, Geofabrics Australasia has strengthened its long-standing partnership with Tensar by introducing the next generation of advanced product solutions to the Australia and New Zealand markets. For over 30 years, Geofabrics and Tensar have combined their expertise to deliver high-performance geosynthetics for a wide range of infrastructure applications.

The latest innovation, Tensar® InterAx® geogrid, offers superior soil interaction and trafficking performance ideal for roads, railways, and working platforms. Supported by the new Tensar®+™ geotechnical design cloud-based software, this platform helps customers save on construction time, reduce project costs, and minimise their overall carbon footprint.

The Tensar InterAx geogrid is made from a coextruded, composite polymer sheet that is punched and oriented to form a distinctive structure. This design optimises soil interaction, improves structural stability and accelerates construction timelines, enabling significant reduction in aggregate sections. InterAx works to lower project costs and maintenance requirements, while increasing the performance of pavements, railway trackbeds and other trafficked areas, ensuring the successful and timely completion of civil engineering projects.

The introduction of InterAx aligns with Geofabrics’ commitment to delivering environmentally responsible solutions by enhancing project efficiency and lowering carbon emissions. This commitment is further supported by the innovative Tensar+ geotechnical design cloud-based software, which enables engineers to generate optimised designs, reduce material usage and minimise construction time. Using InterAx geogrids can drastically reduce carbon emissions, significantly contributing to sustainable construction practices.

Geofabrics Executive Director - Australia, Peter Tzelepis comments: “The next-generation InterAx geogrid and Tensar+ software delivers a new platform of sustainable technology that all designers and asset owners must prioritise on our journey to net zero and long-term performance solutions. By integrating advanced design capabilities and optimising the use of geosynthetics, not only does it enhance construction efficiency but also significantly reduces the environmental impact. It’s a critical step forward in our collective journey towards a sustainable future.”

Tensar Global Director - Strategic Initiatives, Dan Baker comments: “Tensar’s ‘Next Gen’ launch in Australia and New Zealand caps off 6 years of customer-focused innovation aimed at meeting the needs of our customers and advancing mechanical stabilisation solutions. This is a defining moment in Tensar’s longstanding history of driving innovation, thought leadership, technology, and environmental stewardship. The culmination of InterAx, advanced design methods, and Tensar+ are a game changer for the industry and will empower more stakeholders to reliably design with confidence while also optimising for cost, time, and carbon savings."
