A decant t-bar system is used in sediment retention ponds (SRPs) and in decanting earth bunds (DEBs) to drain the cleaner water at the top of the pond while maximising sediment deposition.
A standard T-bar provides a decant flow rate of 4.5 L/seconds and is designed for catchments. Decants are either added incrementally to accommodate catchments greater than 1.5 ha or the number of holes in the decant is restricted to maintain the decant rate of 3 L/second/ha of a contributing catchment.
The mini-T-bar decant is designed to provide a decant flow rate of 0.9 L/second for a catchment area of up to 3000m².
WHY CHOOSE DECANT T-BAR SYSTEM?
-
Ideal for managing sediment-laden runoff in sediment retention ponds for exposed catchments of more than 0.3 ha, allowing the deposition of transportation sediment to occur through settlement
-
Used in decanting earth bunds to treat sediment-laden runoff for exposed catchments up to 0.3 ha, reducing flows and minimising downstream channel erosion
-
Supplied in convenient decant t-bar system kitsets (100mm)
-
Complies with local regulatory requirements
INSTALLATION
Decant t-bar system kitsets (100mm) for sediment retention ponds (SRPs) and decanting earth bunds (DEBs) are supplied as drilled and assembled “T” bars with the full range of fittings ready to be put together on site. Additional accessories include PVC connectors, flexible coupler, steel Y posts, extension kit and rope.
APPLICATIONS
Sediment Retention Ponds
Sediment Retention Ponds (SPRs) are suitable for managing sediment-laden runoff where treatment is required. They are typically considered the ideal control measure for exposed catchments catchments larger than 0.3 hectares. It is crucial to maintain the SRPs until the disturbed area is permanently stabilised and fully protected against erosion. The primary function of SRPs is to capture runoff flows, allowing sediment to settle out through deposition. Additionally, they help reduce flow velocity, thereby minimising downstream channel erosion.
Decanting Earth Bunds
Decanting Earth Bunds (DEBs) are suitable for treating sediment-laden runoff in exposed catchments up to 0.3 hectares. It is essential to maintain the DEBs until the disturbed area is permanently stabilised and fully protected against erosion. Similar to SRPs, DEBs serve to capture runoff flows, allowing sediment to settle through deposition. They also help to attenuate flows, reducing the impact of erosion on downstream channels.
