WHY CHOOSE BIDIM?

In infrastructure development projects such as road and rail, Bidim offers excellent filtration, separation and drainage properties.

Bidim provides:

  • Made from virgin polyester with a reinforced three-dimensional structure and equal strength across all directions
  • Excellent filtration and separation properties
  • Reduces the requirement for quarried fill materials, helping to minimise construction time and project costs
  • A strong three-dimensional structure delivers superior stability, maintaining its integrity under load while providing consistent performance in filtration, drainage, and separation applications
  • Designed to meet the requirements of New Zealand road and state highway requirements, NZTA TNZ F/7 Specification for Geotextiles

Applications

Ground & Pavement Stabilisation

Almost every road constructed today incorporates a non-woven geotextile beneath the pavement structure to provide both separation and filtration functions. Water ingress is one of the primary causes of pavement deterioration, making effective drainage and the rapid removal of water critical to extending pavement life and reducing long-term maintenance costs.

In addition, the geotextile acts as a separation layer between the underlying soft subgrade and the imported fill material, helping to prevent the migration of fines into the aggregate layer and maintaining the integrity and performance of the road structure over time.

Subsoil Drainage

Standard road construction practice typically incorporates edge drainage systems that utilise geotextiles to manage groundwater and maintain pavement performance. To maximise the effectiveness of these drainage systems, a geotextile with high hydraulic flow capacity is preferred.

Bidim non-woven geotextile features a highly permeable three-dimensional structure that creates numerous flow pathways for water movement. As a result, it facilitates rapid water transmission and delivers flow rates that often exceed those of the surrounding natural soils and aggregates with which it is in contact.
